Letsch on ex-Salzburg player: "Can reach Musiala's level"

Juventus Turin recently introduced Kerim Alajbegovic (18) from Bayer 04 Leverkusen. A transfer fee of 32 million euros is rumored.

The Bosnian drew attention to himself last season as a player for FC Red Bull Salzburg, and Leverkusen brought him back using a buy-back option.

Thomas Letsch also played a significant role in his development; the German coached him until his dismissal in mid-February in Salzburg.

Trust Justified

The current head coach of Al-Shabab raves about his former protégé to "Tuttosport": "Alajbegovic fully justified my trust. I had no doubts about it. He is a great talent, a willing learner. Thanks to his continuous development, he earned a spot in the national team and participated in the World Cup in the USA."

Letsch describes him as follows: "He comes in from the left wing and then cuts inside. He possesses first-class technique and an excellent shot, and he is extremely dangerous in one-on-one situations, as dribbling is one of his specialties. Furthermore, he has intelligently learned to recognize when it is right to take on the opponent and when it is better to play the ball differently."

Letsch also taught him to sacrifice himself for the team off the ball. So, will Alajbegovic eventually be among the best players in the world?

Letsch Believes Great Things Are Possible For Him

"I am sure he can reach the level of Musiala and Wirtz if he continues at this pace," the ex-Salzburg coach believes he has a bright future.

Letsch particularly likes the player's ambition. "He always wants to win, he doesn't like to lose. He takes defeats poorly. When he loses, he becomes sullen and angry. Because he feels like a winner. He was born to win trophies," said the German.
