Confirmed! Boateng Now Assistant Coach in Süper Lig
For the former Bayern player, this is his first professional football appointment. He gained experience as an assistant coach with LASK's second team alongside his playing career.
The rumors have been confirmed. Jerome Boateng has landed his first assistant coaching job in professional football.
He is heading to Trabzonspor in Turkey, where he will support German head coach Thomas Reis. Only this summer, the club signed Mohamed Salah and Fabinho, among others.
"I am very proud and happy to be part of the coaching staff. It means a lot to me to learn from Thomas Reis and his team every day," the 38-year-old explained on Facebook.
Assistant Coach in Linz
Boateng had already gained some experience at LASK. There, alongside his active playing career, he assisted as an assistant coach with the second team. This changed with the termination of his contract in August 2025.
A possible traineeship at Bayern Munich did not materialize after fan resistance.
