Another setback! Neuer could miss CL match
Bayern's first-choice goalkeeper came under heavy criticism after the match against Augsburg. On Monday, he also missed training due to injury. It is questionable whether he will be in the squad against Viking Stavanger.
Things haven't gone to plan for Manuel Neuer lately in terms of his performance. Now, a health issue has also emerged.
As his coach Vincent Kompany announced at the press conference before the Champions League match against Viking Stavanger (from 9:00 PM in the LIVE ticker >>>), he felt something in his foot and did not train on Monday.
This confirms the assumptions that Jonas Urbig will guard the goal for the Germans. For him, it is his eighth appearance in the premier club competition.
Cautious all-clear
Regarding the injury, Kompany nevertheless gives a cautious all-clear: "I don't think it's that bad. But if he hasn't trained yesterday and today, it's unnecessary to take a risk at this stage. I don't know if he will be in the squad," he explains.
Most recently, Bayern's first-choice goalkeeper came under sharp criticism during the 2-2 draw against Augsburg (more on that >>>).
In the Champions League, the Germans started with a 5-0 victory against Bodo/Glimt. On Tuesday, they will once again be challenged by a Norwegian team. The match will be played in Stavanger on artificial turf.
