Juve legend: Daniliuc's coach sacked
After two consecutive defeats, Stephan Lichtsteiner has been sacked by FC Basel.
FC Basel 1893 is parting ways with its head coach. Stephan Lichtsteiner has to leave "RotBlau".
The club of Austrian player Flavius Daniliuc officially announced this on Wednesday.
The 108-cap Switzerland international had only taken over Basel in January 2026 and finished last season with the club in fifth place, thus missing out on qualification for international competition.
After two consecutive defeats and three games without a win, Basel is currently once again in fifth place. In 27 matches under the former right-back, Basel averaged only 1.22 points.
Lichtsteiner, who played for clubs including Juventus and Arsenal during his playing career, joined FCB in January from fourth-tier club FC Wettswil.
