Report: BVB Makes Future Decision on Austrian International

What does the future hold for Austrian international Marcel Sabitzer?

The midfielder is still under contract with Borussia Dortmund until summer 2027. There were already rumors of a departure during the past transfer window, but Sabitzer decided to stay.

Strong Competition

Sabitzer is currently fighting for a starting spot at BVB; he was allowed to start in both the Cup and the Champions League. In the league, he has made two brief appearances so far.

Competition in central midfield is strong. Head coach Niko Kovac currently trusts the trio of Felix Nmecha, Jobe Bellingham, and newcomer Joey Veerman more in the center.

The 32-year-old Austrian joined the "Black and Yellows" from FC Bayern Munich in summer 2023 for around 19 million euros. In 122 games, the versatile midfielder has scored eight goals and provided 14 assists.
