Will James Rodriguez return to Europe once again?

According to the Spanish "Marca", the now 35-year-old Colombian is on the verge of a move to US Avellino in Italy's Serie B. Talks are reportedly already well advanced.

From February to June of this year, the attacking midfielder was under contract with Minnesota United in the MLS. He is currently a free agent and can therefore join Italian second-division clubs outside the transfer window.

After three rounds, US Avellino is currently in fifth place with two victories. The coach is Italian legend Alessandro Nesta.

Successful Stint at Real

James looks back on a successful career. After spells at FC Porto and AS Monaco, the 131-time Colombian international moved to Real Madrid in 2014 for 75 million euros.

For Los Blancos, he played 125 games, scored 37 goals, and assisted 42 others. During this time, he also won the UEFA Champions League twice (2016 and 2017).

World Cup Top Scorer

After a loan spell at FC Bayern Munich, he moved to FC Everton in the Premier League in 2020. In recent years, the midfielder has been well-traveled, playing for clubs including Al-Rayyan (Qatar), Olympiakos (Greece), Sao Paulo (Brazil), Rayo Vallecano (Spain), and Club Leon (Mexico).

The 2014 World Cup in Brazil remains particularly memorable, where the creative player became the top scorer with six goals. In addition to 2014, James also participated in the final tournaments in 2018 and 2026.
