Alaba Rejects Lazio Deal
However, a transfer is likely to have failed due to the Italians, as the club reportedly initially named Alaba as their number one transfer target after Deadline Day. According to "Gazzetta dello Sport", however, the salary expectations were very different.
A new report from "Corriere dello Sport" states that the capital club even presented the ÖFB captain with a concrete offer. According to the report, Alaba would have earned three million euros per season, but the Viennese player rejected it.
According to estimates, the Austrian is said to have earned 22.56 million euros gross at Real Madrid.
No European Football for Alaba
A contract with such earnings is currently difficult to imagine, at least in Europe. Where the central defender will ultimately land remains to be seen. As a free agent, he can also transfer outside the transfer window.
What is certain, however, is that the Austrian will not be seen in the upcoming league phase of the Champions League, Europa League, or Conference League. Squad lists have already been submitted, and a late nomination would only be possible from the knockout phase.
