Official! Nikolas Polster leaves WAC

What has been on the cards for weeks is now confirmed – Nikolas Polster leaves Wolfsberger AC.

The 24-year-old joins Dutch first-division club NEC Nijmegen, who had intensified their pursuit of the goalkeeper in recent days. There, he signs a contract until 2030.

"I was able to spend two incredible years with many beautiful moments at WAC, during which we achieved great things with the cup title and the playoff match for the championship," Polster is quoted by WAC in a farewell statement.

"I am very grateful to the club for the opportunity I was given, and WAC will always have a special place in my heart. But now the time has come for me to take the next step in my career development," the goalkeeper continued.

Two years ago, Polster moved from LASK to the Wolves and quickly became the first-choice goalkeeper. In a total of 70 games for WAC, he kept 21 clean sheets. Now he is moving abroad for the first time in his career. The Lavanttal club receives a multi-million sum for Polster (More Info>>>).

"With the signing of Nikolas, our goalkeeper team is complete. We have observed him closely recently. Our playing style requires certain qualities, and he fulfills this profile," said Carlos Aalbers, Technical Director in Nijmegen, about the new signing.

With his new club, Polster still has a chance to participate in the UEFA Champions League. After the victory against Olympiakos Piraeus, the club is in the playoff, where Norway's top club Bodö/Glimt now awaits.
