Is Jaissle bringing an ex-Bull to Newcastle United?
The "Magpies" want to strengthen their defense, which is why a former Salzburg defender could become an option.
Will Matthias Jaissle's first new signing at Newcastle United immediately be an ex-Bull?
As transfer journalist "Sam C" reports via "X", Newcastle is showing interest in Amar Dedic (23). Accordingly, the "Magpies" want to bolster their defense, which is why the Bosnian right-back is on their radar.
Fabrizio Romano even writes about initial talks between the Premier League club and Benfica Lisbon. According to Romano, Dedic has also been approved as a transfer target.
Together in Salzburg and Liefering
Since summer 2025, Dedic has been playing for Benfica. He was a regular starter for the reigning Portuguese Super Cup winner, making ten appearances in the Champions League and 24 in the league (1 goal, 5 assists).
Jaissle and the right-back know each other from their time together at FC Red Bull Salzburg. The Bosnian played more frequently under no other coach than under the German (52 times).
In Salzburg, both worked together for one season and won the Bundesliga title. Before that, Dedic had already played under Jaissle at FC Liefering.
Benfica recently demanded €60m
Dedic's contract in Lisbon runs until summer 2030.
Already last winter, there was Premier League interest in the ex-Salzburg player. Manchester City and FC Chelsea reportedly pursued him.
However, Benfica did not want to let go of the defender in winter and reportedly demanded 60 million euros for Dedic.
