Is Werder signing a former ÖFB youth player as a replacement for Romano Schmid?

Just over a year ago, Ermin Mahmic was still under contract with SV Lafnitz, and his market value was estimated at 250,000 Euros.

Now, the Wels-born player can not only call himself a Bosnian international but, with a market value of seven million Euros, is also one of the most valuable playmakers in his age group.

Departure imminent

It is highly unlikely that the former Austria U21 international, who decided against a career with the ÖFB, will remain at Slovan Liberec for much longer.

According to a report by the Czech sports portal "iSport", there is widespread interest in Mahmic from all over Europe. SV Werder Bremen sees the Bosnian international as the ideal successor for Austrian international Romano Schmid, who is on the verge of a move to Serie A.

Schalke 04, Union Berlin, Toulouse, AC Monza, and FC Basel are also mentioned as potential buyers. FC Red Bull Salzburg is also said to have registered interest in Mahmic. The 'Mozart city dwellers' were already linked with a transfer of the Bosnian a few weeks ago. With his two goals at the World Cup, the number of interested parties has increased even further.

Reportedly, 200 million Czech crowns, or around eight million Euros, are due for the 21-year-old number ten. However, none of the mentioned clubs seem to have made a concrete approach yet.
