Former Salzburg coach Thomas Letsch has a new job. The German is now coach at Saudi club Al-Shabab FC!

The club announced this on Saturday night. For Letsch, it's his first coaching position since he was dismissed by Red Bull Salzburg in February this year.

The 57-year-old took his first steps as a coach in the Red Bull academy system, working for the "Bulls'" academy and Liefering, among others. A brief intermezzo at Erzgebirge Aue followed, before he moved to Wiener Austria.

After stints at Vitesse Arnheim in the Netherlands and VfL Bochum in Germany, he returned to Salzburg as head coach in early 2025 and was coach there for a good year. Now his first non-European adventure follows.

Saudi Mid-Table Club

Al-Shabab finished the past season in 13th place in the 18-team Saudi Pro League.

The club from the capital Riad relies on many local players, but there are still a few foreign players, with Englishman Josh Brownhill, Algerian Yacine Adli, and Belgian Yannick Carrasco having the highest market values.

The club did not disclose any details about the contract or its duration.
