ÖFB Talent David Puczka Gets New Position

21-year-old David Puczka is considered one of Austria's biggest left-back talents.

This summer, the left-footed player made the move from Juventus Turin's Next Gen team to Serie A, specifically to CFC Genoa.

So far, the current U21 international, who was trained by Wiener Austria and Admira Wacker, has made three competitive appearances for Genoa this season – but not in his natural position on the left flank.

Puczka Deployed in a Back Three at Genoa

His head coach Daniele De Rossi, who was a World Champion with Italy in 2006 as a player, has other plans:

"De Rossi sees me as a left-sided central defender in our back three at Genoa," Puczka explained in an interview with "Krone".

Prefers Playing as a Left-Back

It's an adjustment, as the 21-year-old, who possesses strong technical skills and good set-piece delivery, openly admits: "I feel more comfortable on the left flank."

But he is currently embracing every challenge: "As long as I'm playing, I don't care where!"

CFC Genoa paid a transfer fee of six million euros in the summer to sign Puczka. He played 30 minutes in Serie A on the last matchday. In the ÖFB U21 national team, he is the top scorer in the current European Championship qualifiers with two goals and three assists.
