Juventus Hijacks Roma's Extension with Celik
The right-back had already given Roma a verbal commitment - now the Turkish international is drawn to the "Old Lady".
Juventus Turin has swooped in on AS Roma's contract extension with Zeki Çelik.
As transfer expert Fabrizio Romano reports, the 63-cap Turkish international will in the future play for the "Old Lady". The 29-year-old moves to the Turin side on a free transfer.
Juve has thus hijacked Çelik's contract extension with Roma: Accordingly, the full-back had already verbally agreed to an extension of his contract with the "Giallorossi".
Europa League instead of Champions League
However, the Turkish international thus also foregoes participation in the UEFA Champions League in the coming season. While Roma, as third in the last Serie A season, plays in the "Champions League", the "Old Lady", after finishing sixth, is only represented in the UEFA Europa League.
Çelik was part of Turkey's World Cup squad and featured in two of the three matches.
