Still Undefeated: Roma Beats Genoa and Austrian Puczka
After a goalless first half, Roma turns up the heat in the second half and clinches their fifth win of the season - David Puczka played the full match for the visitors.
CFC Genoa remains stuck at the bottom of the table.
On the seventh matchday of Serie A, the "Rossoblu" had to concede a 2-0 defeat to AS Roma. The "Giallorossi", on the other hand, bounce back from their bitter 3-4 UEFA Champions League defeat against Real Madrid during the week and secure a victory after two consecutive league draws.
The Romans started the match well, but chances from Matias Soule (18'), Konstantinos Koulierakis (20'), and Leonardo Balerdi (30') remained unutilized for the time being.
The visitors had their best spell at the end of the first half, but Milutin Osmajic and Stephan El Shaarawy (33') squandered a triple chance.
Roma Turns Up the Heat in the Second Half
After the break, the hosts improved and were rewarded for it: Santiago Castro was in the right place after a corner kick (50').
While little came from the visitors in the second half, Emanuele Lulli extended Roma's lead to 2-0 (68').
Genoa only grew stronger again towards the end; a long-range free-kick from David Puczka (73') narrowly missed the goal, and Milutin Osmajic's attempt was saved by Pierluigi Gollini (80').
Puczka played the full match for the visitors, while Elias Havel was not in the squad due to adductor problems.
Roma remains undefeated and, with their fifth win, is hot on the heels of Inter Milan. Genoa, however, has not yet managed to escape the relegation zone.
Previously, the "Nerazzurri" had celebrated a 3-1 away victory against FC Bologna. Bottom-placed Venezia, however, celebrated their first win of the season with a 1-0 triumph over Napoli.
