Power Play: FC Bayern Steamrolls Leipzig
After two consecutive draws, Bayern unleash their frustration. Leipzig's defense is disastrous.
On Matchday 6 of the German Bundesliga, Bayern left Leipzig no chance on Saturday, winning 6-1.
From the outset, it was one-way traffic in Munich. Diaz opened the scoring for the Bavarians in the twelfth minute. Just 14 minutes later, Pavlovic extended the lead to 2-0 (26').
Leipzig's defense was completely overwhelmed, and the record champions exploited it mercilessly. Kane set up Olise perfectly, who gave Vandevoordt no chance and made it 3-0 (34').
Bayern Just Keep Going
At halftime, Seiwald was substituted in for Leipzig. Shortly thereafter, the Austrian international witnessed Diaz's second goal, which extended the lead to 4-0 (47').
Just five minutes later, Harry Kane also added his name to the scoresheet. In his 100th Bundesliga game, the Englishman scored his 102nd goal (52').
Diaz Completes Hat-trick
For a long time this season, there has been talk that Luis Diaz was in a goal-scoring slump, having only managed two goals before this match.
But he silenced those critics as well. In the 69th minute, the Colombian completed a half-dozen, making it 6-0 for Bayern. Maksimovic managed a consolation goal for Leipzig shortly before the end, making it 1-6 (90+1').
For Bayern, Laimer played until the 58th minute. The Munich side thus overtook Dortmund and moved to the top of the table. Leipzig slipped to seventh place.
