Schmid and Frosinone Celebrate Late Home Win

Frosinone Calcio wins the clash of promoted teams against Venezia FC with a 3:2 scoreline on the third matchday of Serie A.

The club of the two ÖFB legionnaires Romano Schmid and Florian Grillitsch initially held a comfortable lead but had to concede an equalizer after the break before Giorgi Kvernadze delivered the lucky punch shortly before the final whistle.

For Romano Schmid, it is his third consecutive start. The 26-year-old ÖFB legionnaire received a yellow card in the 33rd minute and was substituted after 57 minutes. Florian Grillitsch remained on the bench for 90 minutes.

Raimondo Bags a Brace

Frosinone got off to a better start and set the course for victory in the first half. Antonio Raimondo gave the hosts a 1:0 lead in the 21st minute.

The goalscorer added another before halftime. Raimondo scored again in the 39th minute, securing a comfortable 2:0 lead.

Venezia Fights Back

After the break, Frosinone initially seemed to be able to comfortably manage their lead. However, after Schmid's substitution, Venezia fought their way back into the game.

John Yeboah reduced the deficit to 1:2 in the 66th minute. Just eight minutes later, Richie Sagrado actually managed to equalize, making it 2:2.

However, Frosinone still had an answer. Giorgi Kvernadze scored in the 83rd minute to make it 3:2, securing a home win for the promoted side.

Frosinone Climbs into Upper Half of Table

Frosinone thus celebrates its first home win since returning to Serie A and now has six points after three matchdays. This sees the promoted team climb to eighth place in the table.

Venezia, on the other hand, remains without a point after three matches. Following the departure of former captain and ÖFB legionnaire Michael Svoboda to Brighton & Hove Albion, the club suffered its third consecutive defeat and is only 18th.
