Baumgartner toils with U17 World Cup hero
The Austrian national team player continues to work on his comeback: In Salzburg, he has found a training partner in Johannes Moser.
A torn rectus femoris tendon in the front of his thigh in early June shattered Christoph Baumgartner's dream of playing minutes at the 2026 World Cup.
The healing process is a lengthy one. The Waldviertel native is still in rehabilitation.
Baumgartner is also partly working on his comeback in Austria. As reported by the "Salzburger Nachrichten", the 27-year-old recently trained at the UFV Thalgau sports facility and at the Red Bull Athlete Performance Center.
Johannes Moser stood by Baumgartner's side
There he also had a familiar training partner: Johannes Moser, who became the top scorer at the U17 World Cup last winter, trained together with the Austrian star, as pictures also show.
The 18-year-old Moser was promoted to the first team of FC Red Bull Salzburg this year, but is still waiting for his first competitive appearance for the "Bulls" due to adductor problems.
Baumgartner, who was promoted to co-captain at RB Leipzig this summer, will probably have to wait a few more weeks for his comeback. Without the Waldviertel native, the "Red Bulls" lost 1:3 to Werder Bremen on Saturday.
