Sesko goal not enough! ManUnited concede last-minute equaliser

Manchester United were held to a 2-2 draw at FC Everton.

The "Red Devils" squandered a lead in the final stages and conceded a painful equaliser in the sixth minute of stoppage time.

Following their 0-2 opening defeat to promoted side Hull City and the subsequent 5-2 victory against Ipswich Town, United thus missed the chance for a second consecutive win.

Mbeumo puts United in front

United started the match well. Bruno Fernandes hit the crossbar in the seventh minute, while Matheus Cunha narrowly missed giving them the lead in the 21st minute.

At the other end, Everton had their best chance just before half-time through Thierno Barry (43').

Immediately after the restart, Manchester United finally took the lead. Bryan Mbeumo went on a solo run in the 46th minute and finished to make it 1-0 for the visitors.

Subsequently, the "Red Devils" largely controlled the game and seemed able to hold on to their narrow lead.

Sesko puts United back in front

Everton, however, did not give up. In the 83rd minute, Tyrique George scored the equaliser, giving the hosts hope of earning a point.

United, however, found another answer. Substitute and former Salzburg player Benjamin Sesko rose highest to meet a Shaw cross in the 88th minute, heading in what appeared to be the 2-1 goal.

But Everton hit back in the very last second. In the sixth minute of stoppage time, Ainsley Maitland-Niles scored with a stunning strike to make it 2-2.

Manchester United thus have to settle for one point despite leading twice and are only eleventh with four points. Everton are in eighth place with five points.
