Svoboda: Why the Brighton Debut is Delayed
The Austrian national team player moved from FC Venezia to Brighton & Hove Albion in the summer - but currently, he is only training individually.
"As a child, that was my biggest wish, which is now actually a reality," Michael Svoboda raves in an interview with "Krone" about his new life in England.
With the move to Premier League club Brighton & Hove Albion, a dream has come true this summer for the 27-year-old central defender.
The move has now been successfully completed. Together with his wife Ines, he has moved into a house with a garden, located directly by the sea. "Perfect for relaxing," Svoboda says happily.
Svoboda Plagued by Knee Problems
On the sporting front, however, the start to the new season has been modest. The Viennese is still waiting for his first competitive minutes for his new employer.
Most recently, he was even missing from the squad. The reason is knee problems that have sidelined him recently, as "Krone" reports. Svoboda is currently training individually, but hopes to rejoin team training next week.
Svoboda Compares Brighton to Austrian National Team
In their first Premier League match of the season, Brighton won 4-0 against Aston Villa; a week later, they lost 3-4 to Chelsea.
Svoboda raves about his new team: "The high intensity, the pursuit of possession, and the counter-pressing are on another level. I see parallels to our national team because we also embody this playing style, and both coaches employ similar tactics."
Brighton & Hove Albion will play Leeds United in the Premier League on Saturday (from 4:00 PM CET in the LIVE ticker) - still without Svoboda.
