Promotion Rules for German 3. Liga? "That's a Scandal"
A decision is expected in Germany regarding the dispute over the Regionalliga reform. A coach has heavily criticized one association.
Jochen Seitz, coach of German third-tier club SV Wehen Wiesbaden, has clearly stated his position in the discussion about a Regionalliga reform.
In MagentaSport's "4zu3" podcast, Seitz clearly stated: "There absolutely must be a solution. I am a victim myself, but it's not just about me."
The 50-year-old failed twice with 1. FC Lok Leipzig in the promotion playoffs for the 3. Liga. For him, the fact that not every Regionalliga champion automatically gets promoted is "a scandal. That must be abolished."
"Regionalliga Bayern should actually be dissolved"
Seitz does not commit to which model should be used in the future. However, a direction must be set.
"The Regionalliga Bayern should actually be dissolved because there are hardly any clubs there that want to move up to the 3. Liga. The fact that Bayern resists this is an absolute outrage," he stated clearly regarding the Regionalliga Bayern.
A vote on this topic is scheduled for December. The German Football Association is advocating for a reform of the Regionalligas, while Bayern intends to continue with five Regionalligas as before and expand the 3. Liga to 22 teams.
