There's a sense of optimism at FC Schalke 04.

With five points from the first four games, including a draw against FC Bayern, Miron Muslic's team has impressively announced its return to the German Bundesliga.

Club officials have apparently used the international break to analyze the start of the season. According to "Bild", they have also considered players whose contracts expire next summer.

Wöber "needs to improve"

For six players, the trend is towards a departure. According to "Bild", Maximilian Wöber is also among those potential departures.

The tabloid further states that the Austrian was planned as a regular starter, but so far he has not gone beyond a reserve role. "If he wants to stay at Schalke for more than just one year, Wöber needs to improve," it says. "Bild" estimates the probability of an extension at 50 percent.

Clear trend for trio

It's worth noting that among the aforementioned departure candidates, only reserve goalkeeper Kevin Müller, with 85 percent, and Ron Schallenberg, with 60 percent, are attributed an even higher probability of extension.

However, for Janik Bachmann, Finn Porath, and Bryan Lasme, the trend is clearly towards separation. The probability of an extension for each is below 15 percent.
