Schalke's Austrian Trio Helpless Against Real Madrid
The Royal Ones prove too strong for Muslic's side. Nevertheless, they held their own well against the Spaniards for parts of the second half.
In their final test match before the start of the season, Schalke 04 suffered a 0-3 defeat against Real Madrid.
Dejan Ljubičić and Junior Adamu started the match for the Royal Blues. Maximilian Wöber was initially on the bench and was substituted on in the 62nd minute.
Mbappé Scores After Six Minutes
The match started in the worst possible way for Schalke: Schallenberg played a short back pass to Karius, Kylian Mbappé intercepted and slotted home for the early lead (6'). In the 20th minute, Huijsen doubled the lead to 2-0 after a corner from Güler.
Even after that, Real were significantly closer to another goal than Schalke were to reducing the deficit. In the 33rd minute, Karius saved again from Huijsen, and three minutes later, Becker cleared a shot from Vinícius Júnior off the line.
New Signing Espí Scores For The First Time
After the break, new signing Carlos Espí sealed the victory. The attacker headed a superb cross from Carreras into the net to make it 3-0 (57').
Schalke showed effort but barely created any notable scoring opportunities. Thus, the Royal Blues' dress rehearsal ended with a clear 0-3 defeat.
