Muslic after late defeat: "I have to take responsibility for that"
The Tyrolean is feeling disappointed after the match, partly because he made mistakes himself.
For FC Schalke 04, everything went according to plan for a long time in their match against SC Freiburg on the fifth Bundesliga matchday.
The "Royal Blues" were on track to surprisingly secure a point against Freiburg until the 85th minute, but then Keisuke Goto scored the late 2-1 winning goal from Freiburg's perspective (To the match report>>>).
Miron Muslic's team, in particular, showed a strong and fighting performance in the second half. In the first half, it was Freiburg who were clearly dominant.
"Top away game" until the red card
"Freiburg was clearly the better team in the first few minutes, they had clearly better chances and deservedly took the lead. But after the equalizer, we gained control and played an excellent away game until the red card," the Tyrolean said after the match on "DAZN".
However, the red card Muslic was talking about was not given to a Schalke player, but to Freiburg's Yuito Suzuki. Nevertheless, Julian Schuster's team found their way back into the game, especially with a man down.
Muslic commented: "The dynamics changed with the red card - and I have to take responsibility for that. We were playing excellently. Perhaps in the last 15 minutes - knowing that we were playing great - we took too much risk. I have to take responsibility for that."
"Not as strong when we lose our way"
Schalke ultimately finished with no points against the new league leaders, yet Muslic can still take something away from such matches.
"We are still learning, but we will find our way and have the desire to develop, improve, and learn. There are many positive things we need to take away. But we also need to talk about the last 15 minutes, where we simply lost our way. And when Schalke loses its way, we are not as strong as when we are on track," Muslic said.
