Record-breaker Fellhauer: "Gregoritsch whispered to me..."
Robin Fellhauer scored the fastest goal in Bundesliga history against FC Bayern. Michael Gregoritsch had a message for him afterwards.
Robin Fellhauer will probably never forget the match on the 5th matchday of the German Bundesliga between FC Augsburg and FC Bayern Munich.
After a few seconds, the 28-year-old was the beneficiary of a fatal blunder by Bayern goalie Manuel Neuer, who shot the ball at Fellhauer, effectively serving it to him on a silver platter.
After 8.4 seconds of play, Fellhauer ultimately pushed the ball over the goal line - it was the fastest goal in Bundesliga history.
In the end, Augsburg also celebrated a point against mighty FC Bayern with a 2-2 draw - an all-around successful day for the Fuggerstädter - Match report >>>
Fellhauer: "I am now part of something very big"
"It's indescribable because I am now part of something very, very big," Fellhauer explained after the match.
The Augsburg player could have even netted the ball earlier. "Yes, I could have." However, he had "a certain fear that I would shoot past the goal. That's why I preferred to take it with me one more time. You don't think about such a record in that moment."
Gregoritsch also wants to profit
For his new Bundesliga record, Fellhauer is now welcome to treat his teammates to a round - at least according to Austrian national team player Michael Gregoritsch.
"Mr. Gregoritsch just whispered to me that I have to buy the team a round," Fellhauer is quoted by "Sport1." He will probably hardly be able to resist.
