In the clash against the "Auto City" dwellers, the Franconians twice looked like certain winners, but the relegated Bundesliga side showed spirit in injury time.

1. FC Nürnberg and VfL Wolfsburg drew 4-4 on the seventh matchday of the 2. Bundesliga.

After falling behind, Nuremberg turned the game around, before a dramatic injury time secured the draw. By sharing the points, Nuremberg missed out on temporarily topping the table.

Wolfsburg Takes the Lead, Nuremberg Turns the Game Around

The start was bitter for Klose's squad. Hauke Wahl scored Wolfsburg's opening goal, assisted by Mathys Angely (12'). Before the break, Strobl's side extended their lead: Muhammed Damar converted a pass from Vinicius Souza to make it 2-0 (29').

After the half-time break, FCN began their comeback. Piet Scobel reduced the deficit to 1-2, assisted by Javier Fernandez (52'). Shortly after, Scobel scored again, assisted by Rayan Ghrieb, to make it 2-2 (59').

The momentum shifted when Mohamed Ali Zoma scored to make it 3-2, assisted by Eric Porstner (63').

Wild Injury Time

Events unfolded rapidly in injury time.

Substitute Alessio Besio equalized to make it 3-3 (90'+1). Giannis Masouras hammered the ball into the net to make it 4-3 (90'+6) and seemingly secured the win.

In the ninth minute of injury time, Besio struck again, sealing the 4-4 draw (90'+9). Nuremberg missed out on the win, remaining in second place with 17 points, one point behind Hertha BSC. Wolfsburg is in fifth position with twelve points.
