TSG Hoffenheim, with coach Christian Ilzer, squanders a potential home win on the fifth matchday of the German Bundesliga.

Against Hamburger SV, the Sinsheim-based team loses 2:3, marking the third time in five league matches that TSG has lost after taking a lead.

ÖFB international Alexander Prass enters the game in the 74th minute, celebrating his Bundesliga comeback after recovering from injury. Patrick Wimmer, however, is absent from the squad due to injury.

HSV Takes the Lead

The visitors initially get off to the better start. Yussuf Poulsen is perfectly positioned after a set-piece and converts a rebound to give Hamburg an early lead (12').

Hoffenheim then attempts to find an answer. Bambase Conte's apparent equalizer is disallowed in first-half stoppage time due to a foul in the build-up (45'+1).

A little later, the hosts still have cause to celebrate: After a corner from Vladimir Coufal, chaos erupts in the HSV penalty area. Centre-back Sebastiaan Bornauw ultimately unluckily bundles the ball into his own net (45'+6).

Late Winning Goal

After the break, Hoffenheim turns the game around. Conte impresses with a strong individual effort and gives the hosts the lead for the first time (53').

However, the Sinsheim-based team weakens itself shortly thereafter. Former Salzburg player Bernardo receives a yellow-red card after two tactical fouls in quick succession (65'). Shorthanded, Hoffenheim is forced to cede control of the game and ultimately concedes the equalizer through Moffi (83').

In stoppage time, things get even worse for Ilzer and co.: After a corner, Miro Muheim scores the widely celebrated winning goal (90'+4).

TSG Hoffenheim thus stands at three points after five matchdays and is in a direct relegation spot.

Leverkusen Wins Goal-Fest Against Mainz

Bayer Leverkusen wins 4:3 against Mainz 05. The visitors get off to a flying start: Robert Andrich scores impressively in the fifth minute, with Patrik Schick adding another just four minutes later (9').

However, Mainz, for whom Austrians Stefan Posch and Phillipp Mwene play the full ninety minutes, fights back. Anthony Caci scores a brace (33', 42') to equalize before halftime.

After the break, Jarell Quansah with a header (55') and Moussa Diaby with a fantastic curler (65') secure the away win for Leverkusen.

Benedict Hollerbach scores the final goal (90'+2).

Union Celebrates First Win

Union Berlin secures their first win of the season with a narrow 1:0 victory over SV Elversberg. Substitute Livan Burcu scores the decisive goal after a corner from Christopher Trimmel (81'), who had also been subbed in shortly before.

ÖFB international Leopold Querfeld watches the match from the bench, while Elversberg goalkeeper Nicolas Kristof plays the full match between the posts.
