Despite recent Bundesliga success, Markus Krösche is departing. The Frankfurt side had been struggling in recent weeks.
Sporting Director Markus Krösche is leaving Eintracht Frankfurt!
Head coach Adi Hütter's club announced this on Sunday. According to the statement, the supervisory board is releasing Krösche at his own request.
"After more than five very successful years (...), I have for some time felt that I need a change - and that a new impulse could possibly also help Eintracht," the now former sporting director is quoted in the statement.
For this reason, Krösche recently lacked the "necessary assertiveness" for the demanding task.
Recently in Power Struggle with Hütter
Already at the end of August, media reports emerged about a possible power struggle between Hütter and Krösche (all info >>>). Above all, the two were reportedly at odds regarding squad planning.
However, at the beginning of September, Frankfurt's supervisory board agreed to continue backing the sporting director.
From a sporting perspective, the season has been disappointing for Eintracht so far. In the Bundesliga, they are only in eleventh place. Last Friday, they secured only their second league win with a 1-0 victory against Cologne.
