Hütter's team strikes back! Frankfurt achieves redemption
After the 0-6 debacle against Leipzig, Adi Hütter's Eintracht gets back on track against Köln.
Adi Hütter and Eintracht Frankfurt achieve the desired reaction in the German Bundesliga!
After the clear 0-6 defeat against RB Leipzig last week, the Hessians celebrate a 1-0 home win against 1. FC Köln on the sixth matchday.
Atubolu prevents early deficit
The match almost started with another shock for Hütter's team. After a fine through ball from Borna Sosa, Marius Bülter found himself alone in front of Noah Atubolu after just a few seconds. However, the Frankfurt goalkeeper reacted brilliantly and prevented an early deficit (1.).
Eintracht also had a big chance immediately after. Ritsu Doan served Younes Ebnoutalib in the center, whose volley was superbly saved by Marvin Schwäbe (2.).
After that, the game initially calmed down. Fares Chaibi failed to beat the Köln keeper from a tight angle (21.), before Bülter again caused danger. After a free-kick from Sosa, the attacker tried with his heel, but Atubolu once again made an outstanding save (31.).
Eintracht takes command
After the break, Frankfurt presented themselves much more actively and pushed for the lead. Ebnoutalib initially missed a good opportunity with a header (49.).
Shortly after, the Köln goalkeeper had to intervene again from a header by Lilian Brassier (55.). The lead for Hütter's team was now in the air.
Doan finally delivered a perfect cross, which Chaibi headed towards goal. But again, Schwäbe was there and kept the visitors in the game with a strong save (58.).
However, after this phase of pressure, the game flattened out a bit again. The decisive goal was initially slow to come.
Ebnoutalib redeems Hütter
In the 77th minute, the deserved opening goal finally fell for the hosts. After a one-two with Noel Aseko, Ebnoutalib took the shot and found the short corner. It was already the attacker's fifth goal of the season, putting him at the top of the top scorers list.
Köln failed to find an answer in the final phase. Thus, Frankfurt held onto the narrow lead and secured an important victory for Hütter after the bitter setback in Leipzig.
Eintracht now has eight points and overtakes 1. FC Köln, who drop to eleventh place with seven points.
