Miron Muslic and FC Schalke 04 have now been waiting nearly two months for their second win in the Bundesliga.

To make matters worse, their injury curse continued in the 2-1 defeat against Hoffenheim. Goalkeeper Loris Karius and Robin Gosens even injured each other against Christian Ilzer's side.

Muslic fears "the worst", Karius leaves field bleeding

The goalkeeper spilled a shot and scrambled for the loose ball. Meanwhile, Gosens tried to clear and caught Karius on the head in the process.

In the 51st minute, both had to be substituted due to injury. Karius left the pitch with a bleeding nose and visibly dazed, while the left-back injured his knee in the collision.

Head coach Muslic fears "a serious knee injury" for Gosens, as he explained to DAZN after the match. According to him, Karius suffered a severe cut on his nose.

Wir werden an all diesen Widerständen nicht brechen. Wir sind Schalke, wir werden daran wachsen.

"It is actually unbelievable what kind of adversity we as a team have had to fight against in recent weeks. The devastating setbacks we're having to deal with," Muslic said.

Just two weeks ago against Cologne, two Schalke players were injured in a single incident.

"By far our best half"

Despite the injury setbacks and trailing 2-0, S04 refused to give up. Muslic described the second half against TSG as "by far our best half in the Bundesliga."

His team generated 1.63 xG after the break, reaching 2.6 overall. By contrast, Hoffenheim registered 1.9 expected goals. "And then you walk off the pitch as losers – that hurts," said the Tyrolean coach.

Muslic has no intention of throwing in the towel and believes in his squad: "We will not break under all this adversity. We are Schalke, we will grow from this. Even if it feels very bitter right now and the matches and absences feel brutal – we will get through this."
