The goalkeeper discussion at Eintracht Frankfurt continues.

Since the departure of Kevin Trapp, their long-standing number one, the "Eagles" have struggled with the position between the posts.

The designated successor Kauã Santos failed to impress last season, and his replacement Michael Zetterer also couldn't establish himself despite multiple goalkeeper changes.

Rethink after bitter 0:7 defeat

Following the 0:7 thrashing in the test match against FC Brentford (to the match report>>>), alarm bells are reportedly ringing among the club's management – and a new first-choice goalkeeper is now to be signed.

As reported by "kicker," among others, Freiburg goalkeeper Noah Atubolu is set to move to the Main.

The 24-year-old DFB keeper wants to leave the Breisgauer, and a successor, Mio Backhaus, has already been signed for him in Freiburg. However, Atubolu has not yet found a new club.

Negotiations Underway

That could now change. Currently, a potential transfer is said to be in a very early stage, but the matter could gain significant momentum in the new week.

With only one year left on his contract, the transfer fee is likely to be below the market value of 25 million euros, as assessed by "transfermarkt.at".

Should Eintracht sign Atubolu, the goalkeeper carousel is likely to continue spinning. With Kauã Santos and Michael Zetterer, SGE would then have two other goalkeepers in the squad who would likely lay claim to a starting spot.
