Schmid Alternative: New Teammate for ÖFB Trio
Werder Bremen makes another move in the transfer market, signing an additional attacking player.
SV Werder Bremen has officially completed the transfer of Eren Dinkci.
What had already been hinted at is now confirmed: The 24-year-old is moving on loan for one year from SC Freiburg to the Weser. Werder will not secure a purchase option.
In Bremen, Dinkci will meet the three Austrians Marco Friedl, Marco Grüll, and Alexander Schlager.
For the German-Turk, it is a return to his hometown and his youth club. In January 2019, he moved to Bremen's youth academy, working his way up through the amateurs to the senior squad.
Next Midfield Addition After Schmid's Departure
Werder coach Daniel Thioune: "Speed is a very important component in the Bundesliga, and Eren brings that. He will invigorate our attacking play and give us more options in attack. He has developed positively in recent years. I had already dealt intensively with Eren during my time in Düsseldorf and I am convinced of his abilities.”
In the summer of 2024, the offensive player moved to SC Freiburg for around five million euros after a successful loan year at 1. FC Heidenheim (eleven goals, six assists), but he never really managed to establish himself in Breisgau.
Last winter, the right-footed player went back to Heidenheim on loan, with whom he ultimately got relegated despite six goal involvements in 14 appearances.
Following the departure of ÖFB star Romano Schmid, Werder recently strengthened its midfield with a former Barcelona and HSV player.
