Following BVB's Withdrawal: Next Bundesliga Club Considers El Mala
Borussia Dortmund has distanced itself from a transfer of the German shooting star. Now a league rival could join the race.
Said El Mala (19) will not move to Borussia Dortmund this summer.
BVB's offer of 55 million euros, including bonuses, is said to have been rejected by 1. FC Köln. According to various reports, "Effzeh" insists on a base fee of 50 million euros, a sum that would only have been reached through bonuses in the Dortmund transfer.
As "Sky" and "Sportbild" now report, another Bundesliga club is discussing a possible El Mala transfer: RB Leipzig.
Transfer Fee Could Become a Problem
Both the Leipzig management and Red Bull Soccer executives are currently deliberating whether they want to make an offer for El Mala.
According to "Sky", there are also dissenting voices within the committee due to the financial risk of a 50+ million euro transfer. Leipzig's previous record signing was Xavi Simons (50 million euros), with the Dutchman being resold to Spurs just half a year later for 65 million euros.
Leipzig actually no longer wants to invest transfer fees in this range. On the other hand, the sale of Yan Diomande (at least 125 million euros) brought a lot of money into the coffers. RB has not yet signed a replacement for the Ivorian.
In Leipzig, the winger would meet the two Austrian national team players Christoph Baumgartner and Nicolas Seiwald.
