Borussia Dortmund is pressing ahead with its squad planning.

The current Bundesliga leaders are working on extending the contract of a key player, in addition to the contract extension of head coach Niko Kovac (More Info >>>).

As reported by "Sky", Germany international Waldemar Anton is set to prematurely extend his contract with the 'Black and Yellows', which is currently valid until 2028.

The club thus aims to create early clarity in the heart of the defense: Just last season, Anton's defensive partner Nico Schlotterbeck extended his contract until 2031.

Reliable Regular

Anton moved from VfB Stuttgart to BVB in the summer of 2024 for a transfer fee of 22.5 million Euros, where he immediately established himself as a regular starter. While Schlotterbeck has repeatedly struggled with injuries, Anton has proven to be a reliable presence in defense.

Last season, the 30-year-old played 32 out of 34 possible Bundesliga matches. In total, Anton has made 93 competitive appearances for Borussia Dortmund so far.

Anton has also established himself in the German national team. The centre-back has made 17 international appearances to date and recently featured under new national coach Jürgen Klopp.
