"Goal: Win the Champions League" - Bayern's Clear Statement

FC Bayern Munich enters the upcoming Bundesliga season as overwhelming favorites. The reigning double winners are also expected to be contenders in the DFB-Pokal again.

However, the big goal - apart from defending national titles - is the Champions League. "Our goal is to win the Champions League, there's no doubt about that," emphasizes head coach Vincent Kompany at the press conference in Hong Kong.

Surprisingly Clear

That the Bavarians are not just targeting the Champions League title this season is no revelation. However, the Belgian has never spoken so explicitly about the 'Henkelpott' (Champions League trophy) during his tenure at Bayern until now.

Fundamentally, the 44-year-old wants to see further improvement from the record-breaking previous season.

"It's difficult to get better – it's not just about the trophies we won, but also the number of goals and games we won. That is possible, but difficult," Kompany stated.

Kompany: Squad Strengthened

Two exciting new signings, Ismael Saibari and Nathaniel Brown, were introduced, while players like Leon Goretzka and Raphael Guerreiro are among the departures.

Kompany views the work in the transfer market positively. However, he also knows that there's little room for error regarding personnel.

"To achieve that, to win the Bundesliga, the Cup, the Champions League, we need the entire squad fit and healthy. We must utilize them (the squad, editor's note) well and improve. We have already done that, but hopefully, it will help us achieve our goals."
