Former Austria player Asllani poised for move to CL club

The former Austria player is reportedly moving to RB Leipzig. This means he will play in the Champions League this season.

He impressed in the last Bundesliga season. At TSG Hoffenheim, Fisnik Asllani recorded ten goals and seven assists.

International top clubs vied for the former Austria Wien striker, who played for the "Veilchen" (Violets) in the 2023/24 season. Among them were Borussia Dortmund, FC Barcelona, and FC Porto.

Medical Check in Salzburg

Ultimately, RB Leipzig now appears to be winning the race. According to Sky transfer expert Florian Plettenberg, Leipzig will pay 25 million euros for the striker.

As the "Roten Bullen" (Red Bulls) are currently in their training camp in Saalfelden, the medical check is reportedly set to take place today, Thursday, in Salzburg, according to the "Leipziger Volkszeitung", before the contract signing.

Loan Spell Proved to Be a Turning Point

Three years ago, the Kosovar moved to Wien-Favoriten on loan. However, he did not manage to make a breakthrough there. Asllani scored five goals for Austria.

A year later, Hoffenheim loaned him to Elversberg in the 2. Bundesliga. There, the now 23-year-old finally found his stride. He contributed 26 goal contributions in 37 games.

At Leipzig, Asllani will meet two Austrians: Christoph Baumgartner and Nicolas Seiwald.
