Maximilian Senft creates a first for fans in Karlsruhe training
The Viennese coach wants to train secretly before games. Previously, all of the club's sessions were open to fans.
With the new season, German second-division club Karlsruher SC has an Austrian coach in Maximilian Senft. The Viennese was poached from SV Ried.
Fans now have to adapt to a novelty. In the past, the club's supporters could watch all sessions live on site. That is no longer the case.
Starting three days before a match, sessions will take place behind closed doors. This is being called a "measure in the interest of professionalization".
Opponents should not know our game plan
"In our approach, opponent-specific preparation is highly valued. We are careful to ensure that the content we train for the upcoming match does not end up with the opponent before match day. That's why we decided on this measure," explains Senft in a press release.
It is in no way about "us wanting to exclude our fans. Rather, we look forward to the customary interaction with our fans during the public sessions at the beginning of the week."
