Ex-ÖFB-Assistant and Kulovits Deep in Crisis: "Headless and Naive"

Stellar Start Long Forgotten

The season had started promisingly for the team of former Rangnick assistant Lars Kornetka, who is assisted by Austrian Stefan Kulovits, with a 6-1 thrashing of Magdeburg.

Currently, little of that form is visible in some phases. The first half in Osnabrück was quite decent. "We had a 7-0 advantage in shots on goal in the first half, but unfortunately didn't score. At halftime, we discussed wanting to step up our game even more for the second half," Kornetka is quoted by "t-online".

After a goalless first half, they immediately fell 0-3 behind. According to Kornetka, his team "simply became headless" after the first goal conceded.

Giving away the game in such a manner raises many questions. Attacking player Aaron Opoku states: "That simply cannot happen to you in the second half today. At the end of the day, it's unnecessary and naive of us to let this game slip away, especially when you had so much control."

The serious problem remains the defense; 14 goals conceded in five competitive matches is far from satisfactory. ""We definitely have to stop that, because we can actually do better," says Opoku.

ÖFB Defender Still Awaiting Debut

With three points, they are currently 14th very early in the season. However, the league is still long, and a turnaround is possible.

Maximilian Entrup is also expected to contribute; the ÖFB attacker was substituted in the 73rd minute with the score at 0-1. The former LASK player has yet to score in four league games, but he did shine with two assists in the DFB-Pokal against Bundesliga side Union Berlin (a 2-4 defeat).

His compatriot and center-back Damjan Kovacevic, however, is still awaiting his first appearance; perhaps the 22-year-old can stabilize Eintracht's shaky defense.
