Clear Mainz Victory! Mwene with "obligatory" goal of the season
The 05ers give HSV no chance whatsoever and win, thanks in part to two Austrians.
A good start to the new Bundesliga season for 1. FSV Mainz 05.
After a 0-0 draw on the opening day against promoted side SC Paderborn, Mainz clearly won 5-0 away at Hamburger SV on matchday two.
Sheraldo Becker put the visitors on track after 19 minutes, with the 2-0 goal then credited to ÖFB legionnaire Phillipp Mwene. The Viennese player was completely free at the far post after a Becker cross and only had to push the ball over the line (41st minute).
First and hopefully not last goal of the season
For Mwene, it's his first goal of the season, but hopefully not his last, looking at his statistics from recent years: In the last three seasons, the left-back has scored exactly one goal each season.
After the break, Philip Tietz shone with a brace (48th, 83rd minute), and Ransford Königsdörffer added the final goal (90+1).
Very little came from HSV over 90 minutes. The Hanseatics are at the bottom of the table.
Mwene received a yellow card shortly before the end and played the full match. Stefan Posch was substituted shortly before the end of the game.
