Signed: Matthias Jaissle Moves for 11 Million Euros
The former FC Red Bull Salzburg coach returns to Europe from Saudi Arabia.
Matthias Jaissle is the new manager of Newcastle United.
The German has signed a four-year contract with the Premier League club.
The 38-year-old, who coached his way into the spotlight via the Salzburg Academy, Liefering, and Red Bull Salzburg, succeeds Eddie Howe at the "Magpies".
Most recently, Jaissle spent three years as manager in Saudi Arabia with Al-Ahli. He led the club to, among other achievements, two consecutive AFC Champions League titles. Newcastle is also majority-owned by the Saudi state fund PIF.
However, Al-Ahli did not let him go for free: according to transfer reporter Fabrizio Romano, a transfer fee of 11 million Euros is involved.
