Widely discussed at World Cup: US star poised for mega transfer
Folarin Balogun is being linked with a move to a Premier League club. He was under contract with the arch-rival for over ten years.
Folarin Balogun has stepped into the spotlight at the World Cup in the USA.
However, it wasn't his three goals in four World Cup matches for the US team that generated discussion.
Instead, the rescinded red card before the round of 16 match against Belgium caused a stir. Donald Trump subsequently called FIFA President Gianni Infantino and asked him to lift the ban.
Is Balogun now changing sides?
In terms of his career, Balogun spent the last three years in Ligue 1 with Stade Reims and AS Monaco. Before that, the 25-year-old was under contract with Arsenal FC for over ten years.
According to British media reports, his agents have now offered him to Tottenham Hotspur - the Gunners' London arch-rival.
A move for the American would certainly cause a stir.
