Jamie Vardy is back in England
The 39-year-old will once again play in his home country, signing with a Premier League relegated side.
Iconic striker Jamie Vardy (39) is back in England after one year in Serie A (Cremonese).
The goalscorer signs for one year with Premier League relegated side Burnley. "I'm really happy to be here at FC Burnley now. This club has a long football tradition and passionate fans who deserve a team that represents them and their city," Vardy said.
Major Achievements with Leicester
The Englishman, who became a professional relatively late, rose to prominence during his time at Leicester City (2012-2025), where he sensationally became English Champion with the "Foxes" in 2015/16. In 2021, he lifted the FA Cup with the club.
On an individual level, he was the Premier League's top scorer in 2019/20 and England's Footballer of the Year in 2016. He also scored seven goals in 26 international matches.
Two-time Champion in the Championship
In Burnley, he will meet former ÖFB U20 player Ashley Barnes. The Englishman nearly played for Austria's senior national team, but his naturalization failed.
Vardy knows how the Championship works. He was champion with Leicester in both 2014 and 2024.
