Europa League: Salzburg Knows Possible Playoff Opponents
FC Salzburg must first compete in the third qualifying round; in the playoff, a trip to Sweden or Slovakia could be on the cards.
FC Salzburg knows who their potentially final hurdle would be on the way to the UEFA Europa League league stage.
On Monday, the draw for the playoffs – the last qualifying round before the league stage – took place in Nyon.
Salzburg to Face Swedish or Slovakian Opponent
For FC Salzburg, the loser of the Mjällby AIF (Sweden) vs. Slovan Bratislava (Slovakia) match would be the next opponent.
Match dates are August 20 (first leg) and August 27 (second leg).
Before that, however, the "Bulls" must prevail against FC Pafos in the third Europa League qualifying round (first leg on Thursday, starting at 7:00 PM in the LIVE ticker).
Should Salzburg be eliminated by Pafos, the Austrian club will switch to the playoff for the UEFA Conference League. Therefore, Salzburg only secures a spot in one of the league stages by advancing against Pafos.
