Stadium Update at WSG Tirol: How it's (not) progressing
How far along are the works at the Gernot Langes Stadium? LAOLA1 went on-site to see for themselves.
Time is running out for WSG Tirol.
Football is set to return to the Gernot Langes Stadium for the start of the ADMIRAL Bundesliga spring season. The first kick-off of 2027 is already scheduled for January 22nd to 24th.
The old pitch has been removed, the under-soil heating installed, and the new turf sown. However, crucial steps are still missing for Bundesliga eligibility. Due to the lack of a default guarantee, the construction site has been at a standstill for a month.
WSG CEO Julian Heiss remains optimistic nonetheless: The excavators are expected to be back in action by early November at the latest. During a stadium tour, he explains what's on the agenda for construction phase two, which progress has already been made, and the state of relations with the municipality.
