Thibaut Courtois is expected to stay at Real Madrid beyond the summer.

As the 115-cap Belgian international goalkeeper confirmed following Real Madrid's 4-1 victory over RB Leipzig in the UEFA Champions League, contract negotiations are nearing completion.

"We are holding talks about a contract extension. The goal is to finish my career here," said the 34-year-old.

"Should happen quickly"

"It's not completely finalized yet. In principle, however, it should happen quickly because there are no problems. We just need to find a time when my agent and my father can discuss the final details," said the Belgian.

Courtois has been playing for Real Madrid since 2018 and is also the undisputed starting goalkeeper this current season.

With 'Los Blancos', he has won, among other titles, two UEFA Champions League trophies, three league titles, and the cup. In total, he has stood between the posts for the top club 345 times.
