After CL Thriller: Kompany Provides Injury Update on Diaz and Kim
The two Bayern stars had to leave the Champions League match against FC Arsenal due to injury.
On the third matchday of the UEFA Champions League, FC Bayern München and FC Arsenal drew 2:2 in a thrilling encounter (to the match report>>>).
The match was a bitter one for the German record champions from a personnel perspective: two players, central defender Min-jae Kim and winger Luis Diaz, had to be substituted due to injury.
No Long Layoff
Bayern head coach Vincent Kompany, however, does not expect a long absence. "I hope that both are similar in terms of time. That means not so long, perhaps less than a week," said the Belgian.
At least in the Bundesliga top match against third-placed SC Freiburg, Kim and Diaz are likely to be absent. Whether they will be fit for the DFB-Pokal match against 1. FC Magdeburg is still open at this time.
"Major injuries, I believe, are already ruled out," Kompany said. However, further medical examinations are yet to follow.
Arsenal Worries About Saka
The situation at FC Arsenal is significantly more tragic, where national player Bukayo Saka had to leave the field injured after only ten minutes.
"It doesn't look good at all. The medical department is a bit concerned. When a player has to be substituted because of really severe pain, that's never good news," said Arsenal head coach Mikel Arteta.
