Coach change in Wolfsberg!

The bottom-ranked club parts ways with head coach Thomas Silberberger. Assistant coaches Hannes Jochum, Jonas Hildebrandt, and David Sencar also leave the club.

"The past few weeks have been a challenging time. I am aware that the team's sporting development recently took on a dynamic that makes the club's decision understandable. Even though I personally deeply regret this decision, it's part of the football business," Silberberger commented on his dismissal.

Familiar face returns

The new coach has also already been determined. Viennese native Manfred Schmid returns to Lavanttal. He will be supported by Christian Mayrleb and Andreas Biritz.

"I know the club inside out. Especially in this phase, that's an advantage not to be underestimated, as it significantly shortens the settling-in period. This way, I can focus on the essentials from the start: working with the team. To properly assess the current situation, I will hold numerous discussions today, with a focus on open communication. Afterwards, our full concentration will be on preparing for Saturday's match," said Schmid.

The Viennese native was already WAC coach once between March 2023 and summer 2024, leading the team to first place in the qualification group twice.

With Hartberg into the Championship Group

"Manfred Schmid has already proven that he can get the team back on track after a difficult phase. That's why we are confident that he will succeed again now," said club boss Dietmar Riegler.

Last season, Manfred Schmid led TSV Hartberg into the Championship Group of the ADMIRAL Bundesliga. Before WAC, he was head coach of Wiener Austria.
