Markus Schopp: Swiss top club came calling
The Hartberg coach was reportedly the Swiss club's preferred choice. An Austrian international plays there.
Markus Schopp is already in his third tenure at TSV Hartberg.
In between, he left the club from eastern Styria for Barnsley (2021) and LASK (2024).
Now, it seems a club wanted to poach him for a third time. According to "4-4-2.ch," the Styrian was the top candidate for Swiss club FC Basel.
Slaviska Jokanovic was recently introduced there as the new head coach. At the press conference, Basel boss David Degen confirmed a difficult search for a coach: "Mid-September is never a good time to find a new coach, because many good coaches are already at other clubs."
Austrian International in Basel
Flavius Daniliuc, an Austrian international, plays in Basel. With 13 points from nine games and fourth place, the club is falling short of expectations. Last season, the club missed out on Europe with a fifth-place finish.
Now a new coach has been found, and Schopp remains in the ADMIRAL Bundesliga.
