After Call-up Controversy: Tensions Between ÖFB and Rapid Eased
Tensions arose between the record champion and the ÖFB after Jakob Schöller was called up to the U21 squad despite an injury.
The misunderstandings surrounding Jakob Schöller's call-up to the U21 national team have been clarified.
One reason for the communication problems between SK Rapid and the ÖFB is said to have been the sudden departure of sporting director Peter Schöttel. According to the "Kurier", he was the contact person regarding Schöller's situation.
Rapid coach Hoff Thorup had strongly criticized the ÖFB after Schöller's nomination and clearly expressed his displeasure about the injured central defender's call-up.

No U21 Deployment
Communication between U21 head coach Peter Perchtold and Rapid's sporting director Markus Katzer is constructive, and Schöller is to undergo a medical check-up at the ÖFB. It is hoped to find out why the talented central defender is so prone to injury. Should any results emerge, these will be forwarded to Rapid.
Jakob Schöller will definitely not play in the U21 European Championship qualifiers against Denmark and Wales. Due to the injury, the 20-year-old cannot yet participate in tackles in training.
