Roger Schmidt returns to Salzburg for new job
The Klopp successor breaks with previous practice: Roger Schmidt will no longer manage Red Bull football operations from Munich.
Roger Schmidt will succeed Jürgen Klopp as Red Bull's Head of Global Soccer, effective October 1.
According to information from the "Salzburger Nachrichten," the German will carry out his new job from Salzburg. The office will thus relocate from Munich to Austria.
Schmidt could therefore also be seen at ADMIRAL Bundesliga matches in the future. The 59-year-old knows the city very well: from 2012 to 2014, he was coach of FC Red Bull Salzburg.
Last active in Japan
Most recently, Schmidt served as a "Global Football Advisor" for Japan's J-League. He is not expected to completely give up this role and will continue to act as an advisor in Japan. Omiya Ardija, a club from the Red Bull network, also plays in the second division there.
As Head of Global Soccer, Schmidt is responsible for New York, RB Bragantino in Brazil, Leeds United, and FC Paris, in addition to Salzburg and Leipzig.
