Confirmed! Red Bull Salzburg lose Alexander Schlager to Werder
The Austria international keeper bids farewell to Salzburg after three years and will play abroad for the first time.
Alexander Schlager (30) is leaving FC Red Bull Salzburg.
As announced by the "Bulls", the Austria international goalkeeper is joining SV Werder Bremen. The 30-year-old has signed with the German Bundesliga club until summer 2029.
According to reports, Salzburg did not receive a transfer fee for Schlager, who also moved to Salzburg from LASK on a free transfer in 2023 (more on this >>>).
Farewell Without a Title
Schlager played 113 games for the "Bulls" in three years; only at LASK did he make more appearances in goal. In 2023/24, the 30-cap international was also named Goalkeeper of the Season.
However, Schlager could not win a title with Salzburg during this time. He leaves with two league runner-up finishes, as well as two semi-final appearances and one quarter-final appearance in the ÖFB-Cup.
